Sustainable Shipping Solution Pledges to Donate 1% of Annual Sales for a Cleaner World
Cedar Rapids, IA: PVpallet joined 1% for the Planet (onepercentfortheplanet.org), pledging to donate 1% of annual sales to support nonprofit organizations focused on the environment. PVpallet created the first recyclable, reusable, collapsible pallet system—designed specifically for shipping solar PV modules—to revolutionize solar shipping and shrink the industry’s carbon footprint. 1% for the Planet champions environmental awareness and action, enabling brands to give back by supporting their global network of nonprofits that drive tangible, real-world change.
“At PVpallet, we’re committed to sustainability and the environment,” PVpallet Co-Founder Philip Schwarz explains. “Joining 1% for the Planet allows us to go beyond providing a solution to reduce waste in the solar industry for the future; it allows us to help restore some of the damage that has already taken place. This is a great way for us to give back.”
Through this partnership, PVpallet will donate money, time and resources to a group of nonprofit organizations that have been carefully selected by 1% for the Planet. PVpallet aims to work with nonprofits focused on reforestation, plastic waste reclamation, and other environmentally beneficial companies. “We want to work with organizations that directly offset the environmental impact from wood pallets and help the reusable pallet material supply chain,” explains Schwarz.
"Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment and, only 5% of that comes from businesses,” says Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet. “The planet needs bigger support than this, and our growing network of business members is doing its valuable part to increase giving and support on-the-ground outcomes. To date, thousands of 1% for the Planet members have raised over $300 million to support approved environmental nonprofits around the globe. Nonprofits are approved based on referrals, track record and environmental focus. Thousands of nonprofits worldwide are currently approved.
