How does reusable packaging benefit solar companies?

The Problem

Single use packaging cost the US solar industry more than $1B in 2023.

Based on the 32.4 GW of new capacity installed in the US in 2023, $420M was spent on 4.2M single-use wood pallets. Disposing of those pallets required 58,000 truckloads, costing solar companies another $84M in disposal and transit fees. Then there’s the product breakage issue—which only leads to more waste. On average, 3% of solar panels are broken prior to installation—resulting in 2.43M broken panels and costing $486M in damages. Contributing factors to this breakage rate include the lack of structural integrity of single-use packaging, which is only compounded when sitting outdoors for months at a time, and managing loose solar panels. Disposing of or recycling those broken solar panels costs another $26.7M. Don’t believe us? Check our math.

The Solution

Reusable packaging isn’t just more sustainable, it saves companies money, increases efficiency, and protects their products in transit.

In our conversations with solar companies across the globe, we hear the same frustrations with single-use packaging. Disposal fees, rotting packaging, safety issues, broken solar panels, and storage space are the most common issues. So we created a pallet engineered for solar panels that stacks, manages partial loads, and protects panels in transit. But we’re not stopping with just one solution. We are continuing to grow our product and services to meet the unique needs of solar companies.
